Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Lucid mobile application and our website at https://www.asklucid.app (together, the "Service"), provided by Digital Solutions Group, LLC ("Lucid," "we," "us," or "our"), a company registered in the Sharjah Media City Free Zone (Shams), United Arab Emirates. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What Lucid Is — and Is Not

Lucid is an AI-powered tool that assesses online content and returns probabilistic estimates, along with explanations and, where relevant, references. Depending on the feature you use, an estimate may address the credibility of a claim or piece of content, whether an image appears to be AI-generated, edited, manipulated, or otherwise not genuine (including whether it may contain a deepfake), or whether a message, listing, or offer shows signs of being a scam.

Lucid is not a truth engine, an authentication or content-provenance service, or a fraud-prevention, security, or anti-scam service, and it does not provide definitive verdicts. Its outputs are automated estimates that may be incomplete, out of date, or inaccurate, and they can produce both false positives and false negatives — for example, flagging genuine content as AI-generated, failing to detect content that is AI-generated or manipulated, treating a legitimate message as suspicious, or failing to identify an actual scam.

You should not rely on Lucid as your sole basis for any decision — including any decision to trust, distrust, publish, share, accuse, transact with, pay, or take action against any person, business, or content. Lucid does not provide professional, legal, medical, financial, or other expert advice. Always apply your own judgement and consult qualified sources where appropriate.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.

3. Free Credits and Subscriptions

Free tier. New accounts include a limited number of free analysis credits, and every feature of the Service is available to use with them — no feature is reserved for paid plans. One analysis costs one credit, whatever its type. Once your credits are used, a further free credit becomes available periodically; you may also purchase a credit pack or subscribe.

Credit packs. Credit packs are one-time purchases rather than subscriptions. They do not renew automatically, and purchased credits do not expire.

Lucid Unlimited. Unlimited (also referred to as Pro) subscriptions are offered on a recurring basis (for example, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly). Prices are shown in the app before purchase.

Billing. Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play and renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You manage and cancel subscriptions through your App Store or Google Play account settings. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.

Usage limits and fair use. Lucid Unlimited is intended for unrestricted personal use: we do not meter it by credits and we do not cap the number of analyses you can run on it. It remains subject to fair-use protections against activity that is automated, resold, or far beyond ordinary personal use, and to technical limits inherent in the Service such as a maximum length for video content. Where activity of that kind occurs we may suspend, throttle, or decline it. Any technical limits that do apply are made available in the app and may be updated from time to time to keep the Service reliable and prevent abuse.

Changes to pricing. We may change prices or plan features. Changes will not affect the period you have already paid for, and we will provide notice where required.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Submit content you do not have the right to submit, or that infringes others' rights, including images or other material depicting identifiable people that you have no lawful basis or permission to submit for automated analysis;
Use the Service to harass, defame, or harm others, or to spread unlawful content;
Rely on or present Lucid's outputs — including AI-detection or scam-detection results — as established fact about a person, business, or piece of content, or use them as a basis to publicly accuse, threaten, or defame anyone; Lucid's estimates are probabilistic and may be wrong;
Attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt, overload, or circumvent limits or security of the Service;
Use the Service in violation of any applicable law;
Use automated means to access the Service except as expressly permitted.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Your Content

You retain ownership of the content you submit. You grant us a limited licence to process that content solely to provide the Service to you, including sending it to the third-party AI and content-detection providers we use for analysis, as described in our Privacy Policy. Where you submit an image, this may include automated analysis of its contents — including any faces it contains — to estimate whether the image is AI-generated, manipulated, or a deepfake. You are responsible for the content you submit, for ensuring it does not contain information you are not permitted to share, and for having any rights or permissions needed to submit content that depicts other people.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, and the Lucid name and logo, is owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to our trademarks or branding.

7. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ANALYSES ARE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR RELIABLE, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DIGITAL SOLUTIONS GROUP, LLC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR USD 50, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Digital Solutions Group, LLC from claims, damages, and expenses arising from your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if necessary to protect the Service or other users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version with a revised "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Emirate of Sharjah and the applicable federal laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of the Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where applicable law provides otherwise. Nothing in this section deprives you of any protection or right to bring proceedings in your country of residence that mandatory consumer-protection law in that country guarantees you.
